Professor Carolina Castilla passed away on April 12, 2025. Professor Castilla was a professor at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø between 2011 and 2025. Between 2021 and 2025, she was the Richard M. Kessler Professor of Economic Studies at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. Professor Castilla was a leading scholar in the field of development economics, along with being a dedicated teacher and mentor. She was a founding member of the annual Liberal Arts Colleges Development Conference (LAC-DEV). She also had prestigious academic appointments as a visiting professor at the Paris School of Economics and the Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management at Cornell University.
