TROY, N.Y. ‘ Junior goaltender David Cann recorded his second shutout of the season and his third collegiate shutout Friday night as the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø men’s hockey team defeated Rensselaer 3-0 before 2,848 fans at Houston Field House.
‘This is a big win,’ said head coach Don Vaughan. ‘I don’t know if you can really measure it right now, but it gives us some confidence. A win on the road in this league is big. We certainly needed it and we’re hoping to carry it into tomorrow night.’
Cann played spectacular in net, including several key saves to keep the Engineers from getting on the board including one in the beginning of the second period. Engineer Nolan Graham picked up a loose puck just outside the crease from the boards and one timed it. Cann dove from his right back to his left and snatched the puck with his glove.
