51³Ô¹ÏÍø Celebrates Family Weekend and Bookstore Grand Opening

51³Ô¹ÏÍø BookstoreHamilton, NY — Family Weekend at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, a highlight of the fall semester, will bring more than 2,500 family members to the campus September 20-22 for the receptions, athletic events, theater, concerts, exhibitions, and other presentations, including the grand opening of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Bookstore. Large numbers of families will begin arriving on Friday afternoon. Family weekend events will include an array of campus events as well as a golf scramble at Seven Oaks golf course ad several church brunches.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø BookstoreThe new 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Bookstore, a campus and community resource, will also be celebrating its grand opening throughout the weekend. Housed in the refurbished Sperry Building at the corner of Route 12B (Utica Street) and Lebanon Street, the full-service, four-story bookstore is the largest independent downtown bookstore in central New York. With 12,500 square feet of retail space, the store has an impressive inventory, 25,000 books, 5,000 compact discs and DVDs, computers, gifts and clothing.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø BookstoreEvents set to celebrate its opening, include but are not limited to, a performance by the musical group 35th Parallel from 7-9 p.m. on Friday September 20 in a style they call ‘MediterrAsian Jazz,’ a clown on Saturday morning from 9-11 a.m. for face painting, free balloon animals and juggling, and a reading by Beth Saulnier, a noted mystery novelist on Saturday evening at 7 p.m.

Founded in 1819, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø is a highly selective, residential, liberal arts college, enrolling nearly 2,750 undergraduates. Situated on a rolling 515-acre campus in central New York State, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø attracts motivated students with diverse backgrounds, interests and talents.
