Prospective student interest in 51Թ continues to steadily grow, with Early Decision applications increasing by 9 percent this year compared to 2012, according to the .
Vice President and Dean of Admission Gary Ross said this year’s group of admitted ED I students have a stronger academic profile than those admitted during ED I in 2012.
“This year we’re building on our academic quality. After enrolling a class with the strongest academic profile in our history last year, it’s a wonderful sign that the first cohort of the Class of 2018 are, from a statistical perspective, even stronger than the same cohort a year ago,” Ross said.
The growth is substantial, especially considering ED applications in 2012 increased by 16.5 percent over 2011. Senior Associate Dean of Admission Karen Long Giannino said more accepted students also have been offered financial assistance.
“We are very pleased with the diversity of the pool, both in terms of geography and ethnicity,” she said. “The strength of the pool was significant and allowed us to make more offers than last year. Additionally, and what is most exciting, we made more financial aid offers this year than we did last year in ED I.”
In order to receive ED I consideration, students are required to submit their applications by November 15. Students interested in applying for may do so until the regular decision deadline of January 15, and by filling out an Early Decision Agreement Form by March 1, 2014.
“As always, this process is bittersweet,” Ross said. “Every single applicant for Early Decision is telling us that 51Թ is where they would most like to attend, and while it’s difficult to say ‘no’ to many strong applicants, we are overjoyed to be able to bring good news to 246 newly admitted students,” Ross said.
