Conversations with friends at home focus on 51³Ô¹ÏÍø

natalie.jpgAfter fall break, students arrived on campus rested and ready to tackle their workload. Break came at a great time for those who had taken midterm exams and needed the respite the few days off provided.

I spent my break with my family and friends back home. I really enjoyed catching up with my friends who were also on break from their colleges. My friends go to universities all over the Northeast, so it was the first time I saw them since we all left for school in the summer.

At times when we were talking about our lives in college, I found myself gushing about how much I enjoy my life as a 51³Ô¹ÏÍø student. I talked about all the great friends I have made here, and how they come from all over the world. I elaborated on how Frank Dining Hall gave me a new perspective on how great college food can be.

My friends and I discussed the classes we are taking as well as the clubs we have joined. It was really great to catch up with them and to hear how their college experiences have been thus far.

When students returned to campus, they found the trees in peak fall coloration. With many trees changing color at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, I cannot help but to feel at home. Growing up in Syracuse, I am glad that I am still enjoying the Northeastern fall season while in college. Fall has really transformed our campus, and it is really quite beautiful.

Although this week was short, it definitely still packed a punch. While some students had midterms before fall break, others came back to campus this week with midterms on the schedule and papers due. The week is now over, however, and there are many events this weekend that students are looking forward to.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s homecoming football game is this Saturday and it is against one of our biggest rivals, Cornell. I am looking forward to the game and I know other students are excited to watch the Raiders take on the Big Red in Andy Kerr Stadium. This will be my first college homecoming game and I think 51³Ô¹ÏÍø students are ready to show their Raider pride.

Also, the men’s hockey team is playing Miami, a highly ranked opponent, on Friday and Saturday this weekend. Hockey games at my high school were well attended by the student body and I look forward to watching these games. Let’s go Raiders!

Here is my photo of the changing leaves:

(I’ve been asked to write each week about what life is like as a first-year student here at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. Until next time!)
