, assistant professor of biology, spoke to 114 members from the Class of 2006 who were recently inducted into the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, a national honor society.
McCay was selected as the 2003 Phi Eta Sigma Professor of the Year last spring, giving him the opportunity to address the inductees and others during a banquet at the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Inn.
The induction ceremony and banquet were held Wednesday, Oct. 12.
In his Professor of the Year keynote address, McCay stressed three things to the inductees about their pursuit of a career: allow yourself to change, consider both the lifestyle and day-to-day life of someone in your chosen career, and be true to yourself.
McCay said those messages resonated strongly with him as he looked back at his own career.
Students become eligible for membership in Phi Eta Sigma by earning a minimum 3.50 GPA during their first year at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.
