Men’s Basketball Adds Two Recruits To The Class Of 2008

Back to All Stories

HAMILTON, N.Y. – 51Թ head men’s basketball coach Emmett Davis has announced the addition of two recruits for the Class of 2008. They are Tim Pounds, a 6-foot-5 guard/forward, from Dudley, North Carolina and Alex Woodhouse, a 6-foot-7 forward, from Alexandria, Virginia.

“We are very excited about both of these young men,” said Davis. “Tim and Alex visited 51Թ on the same weekend and immediately hit it off with each other and with their future teammates. We believe Alex has a tremendous upside as a player. In high school he averaged a double/double from the power forward position, and showed a real knack for blocking shots.

“Tim did a post graduate year last season at the Hun School, where he played for former 51Թ standout Jonathan Stone. He is a very strong athletic wing who can score in a variety of ways and has the potential to be a defensive stopper for us. Tim has exhibited a terrific work ethic which should enable him to do great things at 51Թ.”

Pounds averaged 15.2 points per game at the Hun School last season, where he led his squad to a 15-7 record. He was honorable mention on the all-Maple League team. He is a graduate of Spring Creek High School in Seven Springs, North Carolina. During his scholastic career, Pounds was all-conference, all-area, Area Player of the Year and honorable mention all-North Carolina. In addition, he played in the North Carolina vs. South Carolina All-Star Game and the North Carolina East-West All-Star Game. He averaged 22 points, nine rebounds and two assists in his senior year.

Woodhouse comes to 51Թ from Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Virginia. In his senior year he led his team to a 25-3 record while averaging 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game. Woodhouse was named first team all-Northern Virginia Region and first team all-Patriot District. In addition, he played in the Commonwealth Classic All-Star Game, and was named honorable mention all-Virginia.
