Assistant professors of computer science Noah Apthorpe, Grusha Prasad, and Nick Diana help explain where the world is right now with AI and what we might expect in the future.

Noah Apthorp focuses his research on privacy and security, human-computer interaction, and machine learning. He has authored papers including You, Me, and IoT: How Internet-Connected Consumer Devices Affect Interpersonal Relationships, SkillBot: Identifying Risky Content for Children in Alexa Skills, and A Unifying Framework for Contextual Norms and Information Governance. Apthorp earned his bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees from Princeton University. 

Grusha Prasad has taught courses including Introduction to Computing and Playing with Data: an Experimenters Guide to Hypotheses, Evidence, and the Truth. Her publications include Counterfactual Interventions Reveal the Causal Effect of Relative Clause Representations on Agreement Prediction and Rapid Syntactic Adaptation in Self-Paced Reading: Detectable, but Only With Many Participants. Grusha earned a bachelors degree from Hampshire College and a PhD from Johns Hopkins University.

Nick Diana has authored publications including Persuasion Invasion: An Educational Game for Teaching Productive Civil Discourse Skills, Debiasing Politically Motivated Reasoning With Value-Adaptive Instruction, and Reducing Bias in Misinformation Identification with Value-Adaptive Instruction. Diana has taught courses such as Bias in Humans and Machines, Human-Computer Interaction, and Introduction to Computer Science. He earned a bachelors degree from Allegheny College and his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University.
