Photo: Bald eagle makes visit to campus

Back to All Stories

We don’t know if this bald eagle spotted earlier today on campus will be taking up residence, like our swans , or was just stopping by to fish at Payne Creek.

Regardless, the raptor caught the eye of eagle-eyed Joe Bello, the university’s associate director of facilities and manager of capital projects, who shared this photo.

While the bald eagle is a newcomer to campus, the presence of Adam and Eve is one of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s favorite traditions. Legend has it that the swans have been with 51³Ô¹ÏÍø since 1929, except for a few study group semesters abroad and winters in Florida.

Adam and Eve evidently returned from one of their jaunts in mid-April, when they were again spotted on Taylor Lake after a prolonged absence.
