Hamilton, NY – 51³Ô¹ÏÍø volleyball head coach Jenna Panatier recently announced the signing of the program’s first three scholarship athletes. Sheila Giovannini (Arlington, Mass./Arlington Catholic), Erin Kanetzke (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and Marisa Monroe (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lakeridge HS), will join the Raider volleyball squad in 2004.

Giovannini, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker, was a four year starter at Arlington Catholic and a Wendy’s High School Heisman state finalist. The three-time Catholic Conference All-Star was named first team all-state as a senior and received the Arlington Catholic Sportsmanship Award in 2002 and 2003. Giovannini played ball for the New England High Performance team in 2002 and 2003 and currently plays club for SMASH volleyball club.

Kanetzke, a 5-foot-11 middle blocker, was a four year starter at the Ursuline Academy where she was a member of the 2002 Ohio Division I State Championship team. She garnered second team Girls Greater Cincinnati League and Cincinnati Enquirer All-City honors as a senior. She was named to the Wooster Invitational All-Tournament Team and was selected the Southwest Ohio Volleyball Association’s Senior All-Star. Her Club team, Team Z, captured Open National Championships in both 2002 and 2003.

Monroe, a 6 foot outside hitter, was a three year letterwinner and a three-time all-league performer at Lakeridge High School. In her sophomore and junior seasons, Lakeridge posted its highest league finishes in school history, placing second behind eventual Oregon state champions West Linn. Monroe is also a member of the Portland Volleyball Club 18-Black squad, traditionally known as one of the region’s most competitive teams.

‘Our goal was to bring in size and athleticism to compete at the next level and this year’s recruiting class is right on target,’ 51³Ô¹ÏÍø coach Jenna Panatier stated. ‘Accustomed to winning, this incoming group of talented young women will complement our current players beautifully and will further add to the development of our program.’
