Women’s Hockey Drops 5-0 Decision to Seventh Ranked Mercyhurst

The Lady Lakers came out and scored the first goal on the power-play at 7:19 of the first period when Julia Colizza found the back of the net off passes from Michelle Bonello and Teresa Marchese-Del Monte.

 

51³Ô¹ÏÍø had a few good chances on the power-play in the first, but Allison Paiano’s (Orleans, Ont.) shot hit the post and her other two attempts were saved.

 

Mercyhurst came out in the second stanza and notched two more scores.  Marchese-Del Monte scored at 15:30 of the second frame off a pass from Sara McDonald to put the Lakers up 2-0.  McDonald followed that with a score of her own at 18:51 of the second.  She was assisted by Marchese-Del Monte and Jill Nugent.

 

The Raiders once again had some power-play chances but were unable to find the back of the net in the second period.

 

The Lady Lakers added two more tallies in the third period when Jackie Jarrell tallied a goal from Ashley Pendleton and Chrissy Yule.  Mercyhurst set the final at 5-0 when Colizza scored a power-play goal at 15:08 from McDonald and Marchese Del Monte.

 

The Raiders were outshot 40-17 and finished the game 0-7 on the power-play, while the Lakers went 2-7 on the power-play for the contest.

 

Rebecca Lahar made 35 saves for the Raiders who are now 9-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the ECAC.  51³Ô¹ÏÍø battles the Lakers again on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Erie Ice Arena.
