51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s 2019 Alumni of Color scholar in residence, Dianne Stewart ’90, associate professor of religion and African American studies at Emory University, visited classrooms and delivered two public lectures as part of her two-week residency on campus last semester.

In May, 51³Ô¹ÏÍø community members traveled to Puerto Rico for a week devoted to hurricane relief. The group performed service work at Plenitud, a non-profit educational farm and learning center located in the mountains of western Puerto Rico near a town called Las Marias.

Next winter break, students will travel to Havana, Cuba, for three weeks as part of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s first credit-bearing extended study trip to the island.

Kori Strother ’15, an Africana & Latin American studies major from Saint Louis, Mo., is the 2015 recipient of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s 1819 Award, the highest student honor granted by the university.
