Community Partners

The COVE partners with over 50 nonprofit and municipal partners each year through student volunteer teams, trips, and other service programs. Many of our partners work directly in our local communities in Madison, Chenango, and Oneida Counties. Nonprofit and service-based agencies can reach out to the COVE with inquiries for one-time events or long-term projects.

Salvage

Each year, while they move off campus in May, the COVE encourages students to donate reusable items to local non-profit organizations. Faculty, staff, and students work together to collect and sort these items to be collected by partner organizations. Last year, the COVE distributed more than $60,000 worth of items to the local community. Contact Sarah Sparber at ssparber@colgate.edu to inquire about joining the program as a donation recipient.

Day of Service

Community partners can request volunteer support for a one-time day of service based on your program needs or participate in the COVE's national days of service throughout the year.  Exact dates for national days of service vary but traditionally revolve around our 9/11 Day of Remembrance in September, Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January, and Earth Day in April. Participants dedicate an afternoon to volunteering in direct service activities such as clearing trails, facilities repairs, meal prep and service, and caring for shelter animals. If you are interested in hosting student volunteers or participating in a Day of Service, reach out to Libby Boissy at eboissy@colgat.edu.

Student Service Teams

For ongoing service opportunities, the COVE fosters connections between Community Partners and student-run organizations that operate during the academic year. Through mutually-beneficial partnerships, many service teams and community organizations are able to combine resources to meet community needs. See our current student service teams and explore having volunteers support your mission.
